Welcome to the BluNiche Academy

Food Safety and Product Recall Training for Policyholders

Prevention is better than cure.

Food safety and Product Recall management is crucial for food and beverage businesses to prevent the – sometimes devastating – financial and reputational impact of product recalls.

That’s why BluNiche UK has introduced the BluNiche Academy — an innovative, proactive resource tailored to support SME policyholders with the tools, expertise, and training needed to handle product risks effectively.

About BluNiche Academy

The BluNiche Academy isn’t just a replacement for the traditional pre-incident consulting offered with Product Contamination coverage—it’s a complete transformation. Designed specifically for our UK food and beverage policyholders, it delivers real-world value by offering access to expert consulting, proven training resources, and practical advice from industry leaders.

By collaborating with two renowned organisations — Campden BRI, the UK’s leading technical food research association, and RQA Group, global specialists in product recall and crisis management — the BluNiche Academy creates a new standard in pre-incident risk management for food and beverage companies.

How BluNiche Academy Works

BluNiche UK offers the following coverages.

The BluNiche Academy is delivered in two Tiers. Every food and beverage Policyholder will receive the Tier One service and, based on premium spend, additional services are available through the Tier Two service.

Tier One

Tier One comprises 2 parts – an initial consultation with a RQA consultant and access to the 8 training courses provided by CampdenBRI and RQA.

Initial Consultation

A one-hour introductory call with an RQA consultant. The call will cover:

1. Introduction to the BluNiche crisis management service.

  • The BluNiche Academy training programme – including which Tiers you have access to
  • How the 24/7/365 day Crisis Response service works

2. Feedback on the Policyholder’s recall plan

  • The Policyholder will have provided their Recall Plan as part of the application for cover. RQA will carry out a desk-top review of the plan and, during the call, the consultant will provide constructive and best-practice advice on the plan.
  • If you don’t have a Recall Plan, we can help! RQA will help the Policyholder to develop a plan followed by a one-hour call to review the document.

BluNiche Academy Training Programme

Every food and beverage Policyholder has access to eight training courses during their policy period.

Food Safety Delivered by CampdenBRI. Four on-demand e-learning courses covering:

  • Fundamentals of Food Safety
  • Food Defence and Food Fraud
  • Root Cause analysis
  • Internal Auditing for food safety

Product Recall and Crisis Management Delivered by RQA. Four online webinars, delivered twice per year, covering:

  • Managing a recall to achieve the best outcomes
  • Eight best practices to avoid a recall
  • Avoiding product recall “never events”
  • Managing your reputation in a recall

Tier Two

Depending on the Policyholder’s premium, BluNiche UK will make available additional complementary credits to use with BluNiche Academy. These credits contribute to consulting hours that the Policyholder can spend with either CampdenBRI or RQA.

The credits can be used towards any of the services provided by our BluNiche Academy partners, for example, risk management consulting with RQA or additional training courses with Campden BRI.

A Fresh Approach to Risk Management

Once coverage is bound, BluNiche Academy immediately begins delivering value with:

  • Review of the policyholder’s existing recall plan by RQA Group.
  • Expert recommendations for improvement based on desktop analysis.
  • Detailed guidance on how to implement 24/7 crisis response protocols.

Whether you’re building your recall plan from scratch or refining an existing one, our team of specialists and our partner organisations are here to support you every step of the way.
